There is close and easy access to the Red Willow River that can be used as a boat launch. However, the river hasn't been deep enough for significant or predictable river traffic in years. Save for the spring run off. The current is usually weak and wading in for a refreshing dip is allowed.

A wildlife awareness course is recommended if you plan on staying overnight.

*This route can have a high volume of farm/ logging equipment at all hours/ times of year. With the winding turns, one should be wary of encountering large, slow moving equipment at any time. The road is radio controlled. However, not all traffic is broadcasting. I suggest brining a rental radio with current Logging and Resource Road (RR) channels. Be familiar with "Call-Out" procedures and call out your location at least every second kilometer.

This is a nice little stop along the Monkman Pass just as you reach the Heritage Highway.

An added bonus, there is also a semi-maintained, "Outhouse style" toilet facility. It is sturdy and usually quite clean. I personally clean this outhouse once a year. I notice others help keep it up as well. Help us not hate you by keeping it that way please. (Bring two rolls, leave one.

Located on the BC side of the border, this site is at the junction of a backroad cut across between Grande Prairie, Alberta and Dawson Creek, B.C (Northern Route - Heritage Highway) or Tumbler Ridge, B.C (Southern Route - Heritage Highway). It is a scenic route not a time savings route. The distances are longer and road conditions unpredictable, though regularly quite decent.

Sometimes there is wood here to burn. Don't count on it! Especially, DO NOT CUT THE LOCAL LIVING TREES! If they fall over, by all means, clean the forest. Please don't carve on our cut the living trees.

***This is a back country site in the heart of the wilds. Wildlife encounters of all kinds can be expected. Be especially alert for grizzly bears and cougars. There have also been known to be massive swarms of horse flies here during hot, dry years.

** Please don't drive through the river here. The bridge is right there beside the site.

A small site, there is only one picnic table with fire pit. Access to it is usually maintained year round. Though it might be a day or two after big storms.

I've enjoyed this site often over the years. My only complaint being that no garbage facilities are available.

This is a great place to go quading from. There is one small area for picnic. If you look around you can usually find a camping spot.
